Stepping Stones Cambodia works in partnership with the local community of Kok Thnot village to make positive change, one step at a time. Stepping Stones focus on providing free high quality education, improving access to healthcare facilities and delivering organic farming and agricultural training.
Stepping Stones believes that Education is the key to improving self sustainability and quality of life in Cambodia. When education is met with a desire to learn, it creates opportunities which promote and support individuals in reaching their full potential.
So Sok and Rachel Merchant, founders of Stepping Stones Cambodia, established a school in So’s home village, Kok Thnot. The school, ‘Stepping Stones’, provides free English education to children in the village. The school has also grown to offer lessons in health and hygiene, art, sport and computing. Additionally the school provides educational opportunities for young adults wishing to train as teachers.
With over 300 children arriving at the school on the first day of enrollments, Stepping Stones now has over 700 children attending classes each day. They employ thirteen full time local staff and have 20 young people from the community who work at the school on a volunteer basis.
Overload Cambodia would like to commit a percentage of its earnings to go towards supporting Stepping Stones Cambodia.
